We're getting ready to hit the road and travel with Daddy shortly! I love that we can tag along on his trips and explore different towns and cities. However, if it happens to rain a lot, we need to be prepared for spending some down time in the hotel. Just in case the weather turns ugly, I put together a few sensory bins to keep us busy!
All I needed was two of your empty wipes container for transport and play! I filled the first one with the different bases to line the bins. The sandwich size baggies were big enough for each, so I was able to fit three in the container: green peas, blue rice that we dyed from an earlier activity, and the chocolate scented playdough that we made just a few days ago.
Next, I added some tools that you could use for any of the bases. I filled up the second container with cups, spoons, a cookie cutter, scoops, and a muffin cup.
We had to figure out some themes for these changeable bins, so I threw in some dinosaurs/rocks to use with the chocolate playdough, insects/trees for the green peas, and sea creatures/marbles for the blue rice. These fit in nicely to the second container as well!
When it was all said and done, I had two easy-to-pack tubs to keep us entertained! So, if we have a little down time from all of our exploring, we can head back to the hotel and play in our interchangeable sensory bins!

great idea Gina. I suggest adding a groundsheet style mat that you can play on and that is easy to tiny up after.
ReplyDeleteMost of your toys will work great in the bath, another rainy day in a hotel activity
Thank you! A mat would be a great idea...right now I do have a blanket that we can put down, but a nice travel mat could be really useful. Oh, and I never thought about the bath! Thanks for the suggestion!
DeleteHmmm, sensory bins where you don't have to clean-up after yourself? Sounds like great fun.
ReplyDeleteI know! Leave the sweeping to someone else this time! :)
DeleteA dollar store shower curtain can be cut to whatever size you want for a "drop cloth" you could also draw roads on it and it could double as a place for driving cars.
