Duration: 25 minutes
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I love finding little detours along the way whenever we travel. Today, we decided to head over to a Discovery Museum in Dayton (since it was cloudy and looked like rain) when I spotted a Korean War Memorial on the side of the road. I made a (very) quick right turn and we hauled ourselves out of the car to take a look. It was beautiful...and so worth the detour. This memorial is the only one of its kind in the continental U.S. because it lists each and every veteran Missing In Action in the carvings along the walkway. The only other memorial like this is found in Hawaii. As we walked along gazing at the stones, I had many thoughts running through my head about a past that I never knew. My thoughts were with those U.S "sons and daughters that answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met." They were also with "the people" they speak of in this quote. Your people, who are now (through the blessing of adoption) my people as well.
