Day 47: Forever a Family

Day 47
Duration: 20 minutes

I could never have dreamed someone as special as you would become a part of our family.  The happiness and joy that you've brought your father and I is more than I could have wished.  When I think of our little forever family, I feel blessed beyond words and feel so proud to be your mommy.  I often think that things happen for a reason.  That there is a plan.  So many events in my life happened because they were leading me to you.  Sweet, innocent you.

One year ago today, your father and I were fortunate enough to have you drift into our family.  One year ago today, I was able to hold you in my arms and know that I would never have to let you go.  One year ago today, I looked into your eyes and hoped that I could give you everything that you needed and wished for.

Even though today is our "Forever Family Day", we became a family long before May 17th , 2011.  Grady, the moment your life started, we became your parents and I became a Mommy.

Before we knew your name,
Before we saw your chin and your nose,
Before we counted your fingers and toes,
We asked heaven for someone as wonderful as you,
And ever prayer and wish came true.
We dreamed of you...
Before we knew your name.

Since today marks one year since we brought you live with us, I wanted to begin a new tradition.  After several days and nights of pondering, I decided I wanted to focus solely on the memories we have shared as a family.  From that, our Forever Family Tree was born. (More about our tree on a later post!)  Here are just some of the precious moments we had to choose from to create our tree.

This evening, we decided to make some new memories.  In celebration, I decided to cook our favorite meal of the day for dinner...breakfast!  Our whole family loves breakfast foods, so I whipped up a few muffins, some scrumptious mini frittatas, and blueberry pancakes!

After dinner it was present time, because Mama just couldn't resist.  Each year I hope to buy you a new book about families to add to your collection.  The first one to begin this tradition is All Kinds of Families by Mary Ann Hoberman.  I read a recommendation by another blogger and thought it would be perfect!

After dinner we went outside to enjoy some quiet family time together. It was perfect.  These are the kind on memories that I will always cherish.  A wonderfully perfect, relaxing evening at home with my family.  My forever family.
