When we found out that Eric Carle's birthday was coming up, we couldn't resist throwing a party to celebrate. Any time cake is involved, we're there. I decided to plan this little celebration around one of your favorite books - The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Since you remind me so much of that munching machine, I thought that this would be right up your alley! We took a look at everything that hungry caterpillar ate and planned out menu around it. Here's what we came up with.
| Fruit, of course! (We couldn't find plums, so blueberries had to do!) |
| A cupcake, with a cherry on top! |
| Crescents filled with (veggie) sausage and Swiss Cheese. |
| We couldn't forget the lollipop! |
| And a chocolate cake for dessert - with ice cream! |
Before we began the party, I was lucky enough to have you help out in the kitchen. You did such a good job helping me roll out the crescents and fill them with veggie sausage and Swiss cheese!
When we FINALLY made it out of the kitchen, it was time to feast! You asked Daddy to fill your plate up as much as he possibly could. Like I said, you and the caterpillar have a lot in common!
| Mama's plate |
| Grady's plate - a bit full! |
Grady ate through: One sausage and cheese crescent, apples slices, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, and pear slices! Oh my!
(I will also mention that since this was brunch, you had 2 waffles not two hours earlier!) |
After you filled your belly (and luckily didn't turn into a butterfly!), we went inside to have a little birthday fun and check another item off of our Toddler Summer Bucket List.
Number 12 on our list is to fill a room with balloons and have some fun. What's a birthday party without balloons? You loved it!
We all had fun in the room full of balloons!
This is a linky party! If you're a fan of Eric Carle or have read any of his books, don't forget to stop by the blogs listed below to see how all of the co-hosts have celebrated! If you have a post that is related to our theme, be sure to link it up at the end of this post!

ReplyDeleteBoy I'm hungry now! Great pics and I can't believe how many Eric Carle blog activities there are - what a wonderful link up! There's got to be a place online to get this posted for teachers & librarians who can use it with their learning units in the classroom.
